I write because I cannot help it. I write because I cannot hush the stories in my head and because I have books to show the world.
I have this quote stuck on my bedrrom's wall that says: "Don't be that kind of person who gets to the end of their life wishing they'd written at least one book." I actually have no clue of who said it (sorry), but it's there on my wall. I glance at it from time to time because it's my reminder. Because I will not be that kind of person.
And there's also this other one: "No one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories you have to tell."
I stick quotes like those on my walls because I'm a dreamer. I dream day and night because that is who I am.
At the age of fifteen, I stood in the middle of my room and stared through the window. It was midnight -- or so I recall -- and I sat on the floor to stare at the stars. No, I didn't wish upon them. Nor did a shooting star go by. Nope. What I did was make a promise. Among the darkness and the silence of it all, I swore to myself that I'd be a writer. I'd write because my heart wants it that way and I'd publish books (that's still a WIP). But I wrote two books after that, and I plan to write many more.
"To the stars who listen, and the dreams that are answered."
That's my favorite quote of all times, and I shall never forget it. I believe in dreams and stars and books. I believe in words most of all.
I believe stories can change the world.
